The (501-C3) Michael Finney Foundation was established in 1997 by Michael Finney founder and Board President with the sole purpose to raise money for children.  Since it's inception the Foundation has successfully produced the Dry Heat Classic golf tournament Comedy Show to raise the majority of it's funding.

To Date the Michael Finney Foundation has contributed over $600,000 to The United Phoenix Firefighters, Valley Big Brothers and Big Sisters, The Gift of Life, The Thomas J. Pappas School for Homeless Children, Vista Hospice Care and more.  Michael personally contributes not only his time throughout the year for these causes but performs pro-bono at numerous events to continually send out his message to our community as well as in other cities.  The Michael Finney Foundation is committed to improving the lives in our community by giving back to the lives of our children.

Last Wishes Granted by Finney Foundation

For years, Michael Finney and the Finney Foundation have been helping children. Recently, Michael learned about our work with hospice patients and offered to contribute to the VistaCare  Hospice Foundation through the “It’s a Dry Heat Golf Tournament” and the Finney Foundation. To the surprise of all, the results of this union were fabulous!

By the end of the tournament, we knew we would be receiving some funding from the effort. In fact, the VistaCare Hospice Foundation in 2006 received funding for all of our patient’s Last Wishes through the Finney Foundation!

The VistaCare Hospice Foundation assists families in need. These needs can include things like paying utility bills, putting food in the pantry, clothing, paying rent, fixing a leaking roof or fixing a broken water heater.  Whatever the need might be, the VistaCare Hospice Foundation can be there to assist.

The VisaCare Hospice Foundation also plays a key role in granting a persons Last Wish.  It was this program that inspired Michael Finney to take on funding all of our patient's Last Wishes.  These Last Wishes might be helping a family and patient reunite with each other -  reconnect with an estranged friend or family member, relive a special moment or help bring closure to an unfulfilled dream.

It turns out Michael Finney grew up around a nursing home that his parents operated. He was so inspired by the VistaCare Hospice Foundation and the Last Wish program that he knew he needed to be a part of what we do. He and his wife Lori were touched by the families we serve and for them, the Last Wish program became a “full circle opportunity” to serve.

Michael believes that it is his life’s purpose to serve others. Because of that belief, the Michael Finney Foundation funds our patient’s Last Wishes – a wish to go fishing one last time or to see a grandchild; a wish to sit on a golf course and sip a scotch or see an estranged parent; to have a last date with a spouse or go to a favorite restaurant one last time.

Wishes create memories for families.  We are grateful to Michael and Lori Finney and the Michael Finney Foundation for their love and support.
